SLU-PP-332 is not a peptide but a small synthetic molecule: 4-hydroxy-N'-(naphthalene-2-ylmethylene)benzohydrazide, C18H14N2O2, 290.3 g/mol, CAS 303760-60-3. It is a pan-agonist of the estrogen receptor-related receptors (ERRα, β, and γ): nuclear receptors involved in mitochondrial biogenesis and oxidative metabolism. It is therefore not a PPARδ modulator.
Research
The compound originates from the Burris group at Saint Louis University, from which the name is derived. Research in ACS Chemical Biology (2023) described an ERRα-dependent response in mice resembling that of aerobic exercise. The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics published in 2024 on effects in animal models of metabolic syndrome; Circulation reported work in the same year on heart failure via mitochondrial function. More recent studies focus on chemical optimization and on metabolites for anti-doping control purposes. All of this work is preclinical or analytical.
