What it is
Epithalon (also Epitalon or AEDG) is the synthetic tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, with a molecular mass of 390.35 g/mol and CAS 307297-39-8. The composition is based on the amino acids in epithalamine, an extract from bovine pineal glands investigated in Saint Petersburg.
What the research is about
Epithalon is investigated in aging research, particularly in relation to telomerase activity and telomere length. A review in International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2025) surveys in-vitro, in-vivo, and in-silico work, including cell culture studies with fibroblasts and research into melatonin synthesis. The older work originates largely from a single line of research, and human research is limited; both factors should be considered when weighing the results. Epithalon is not an approved medicinal product.

Is Epithalon the same as Epitalon or epithalamine?
Epithalon and Epitalon are two spellings of the same synthetic tetrapeptide (AEDG). Epithalamine is the original pineal gland extract on which the composition is based; that is a different material.
