What is AOD-9604?
AOD-9604 is a synthetic hexadecapeptide: the C-terminal fragment 177–191 of human growth hormone (hGH) with an additional tyrosine at the N-terminus, with a disulfide bridge between the two cysteines. Molecular mass 1815.1 g/mol, CAS 221231-10-3. The fragment does not contain the portion of the hormone that binds to the growth hormone receptor; it is therefore expressly not growth hormone.
Research
AOD-9604 has been investigated in preclinical research into lipid metabolism in animal models and subsequently studied clinically. Those clinical trials were not completed; recent review literature classifies AOD-9604 among unapproved peptides. That the research was discontinued is more relevant than that it exists.
