Wat het is
GHK-Cu is het tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine in complex met een koper(II)-ion, 400,90 g/mol. Het peptide GHK komt in menselijk plasma voor; een review in International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2018) noemt ongeveer 200 ng/ml op 20-jarige leeftijd en 80 ng/ml rond 60 jaar. De koperbinding is de kern van het molecuul: GHK bindt Cu(II) met hoge affiniteit, en de literatuur schrijft een groot deel van de activiteit aan dat complex toe.
Waar het onderzoek over gaat
Onderzoek richt zich op weefselremodellering, collageensynthese, wondgenezing en genexpressie in cel- en diermodellen. Een publicatie in BioImpacts over topisch toegepast GHK benoemt ook de problemen: GHK is hydrofiel en geladen, waardoor passage door de hoornlaag de beperkende factor is, niet de activiteit van het molecuul. Preklinische bevindingen zijn geen uitspraak over effecten bij mensen.

Why is the powder blue?
Due to the copper(II) ion in the complex. A white powder would indicate GHK without copper; that is a different substance.
